Musiktage Herrenberg (Herrenberg Music Festival)

Bergmannsblasorchester represents the Erzgebirge in Baden-Württemberg

In May 2026, the Musiktage Herrenberg returned after a 20-year hiatus – and the Bergmannsblasorchester Aue-Bad Schlema was there. For the band, this visit was more than just a musical performance: Herrenberg holds a special place in the history of our festival.

The Musiktage once served as the model for the Europäische Blasmusikfestival (European Brass Band Festival). When the then Blasorchester Aue performed at the Musiktage in 1990, a close bond was forged with the Stadtkapelle Herrenberg (Herrenberg Town Band). This encounter gave rise to a friendship that continues to this day and is kept alive through mutual visits and joint musical performances. The idea for the Musiktage Herrenberg eventually led to the first ‘Festival of Wind Music’ in Schlema in 1992 – the beginning of what is now the Europäische Blasmusikfestival.

It is all the more wonderful, then, that the Stadtkapelle Herrenberg is once again taking part in the Europäische Blasmusikfestival this year. This brings things full circle: what once began in Herrenberg is now being carried on together in Aue-Bad Schlema – a friendship that gave rise to a festival and continues to resonate to this day.
